IGO 50 - "The crane for the really tall
orders"
The
problem
When JLP were awarded the construct a 7 storey Combined
Facilities Centre they were faced with an extra challenge.
They could not use a conventional tower crane due
to the oversailing problems associated with the site.
A luffing jib tower crane was proving to costly to
install, and a normal SETC would not have enough height
under the hook to top out the building..
The solution
R&B designed a specialist crane foundation that
enabled their crane to beset up 2m above ground level
to raise our SETC the required height. To eliminate
oversailing charges & fees the IGO50 provided
by R&B proposed folding down the crane every night,
for 10 months. R&B also provided a crane operator
with specialist maintenance experience to drive the
crane and provide an upgraded maintenance regime to
match the rigourous demands of the project.
The result
JLP saved:
- £40,000 on oversailing
agreements
- £16,000 on luffing
jib mobilisation costs
- £12,000 on hire rate
saving over a 40 week period
